New Delhi to host second edition of World Food India 2023 in November

The three-day World Food India 2023 event will see participation from 1,000 buyers and 950 exhibitors representing 81 countries. The Netherlands will serve as the ‘Partner Country,’ with Japan and Vietnam designated as the ‘Focus Countries’ for World Food India.

The Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries, Prahlad Singh Patel, conducted a press briefing at the National Media Centre in New Delhi to inform the media about the upcoming grand food event, World Food India 2023. Joining him were Minhaj Alam, the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), Sanoj Kumar Jha, the Additional Secretary of MoFPI, and Mattu JP Singh from the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (M/O).

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) is hosting the second edition of World Food India, scheduled to take place at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi from November 3 to 5, 2023. This flagship event, uniting participants from more than 81 countries worldwide, is anticipated to become the most extensive assembly of stakeholders in the food processing sector. It will bring together industry leaders, policymakers, investors, entrepreneurs, academia, and various other professionals. The event will serve as a platform to showcase Indian culinary heritage and investment opportunities within the food processing industry, establishing India as the global epicenter for food processing.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the event on November 3 at the iconic Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan. Pashupati Kumar Paras, the Minister of Food Processing Industries for the Government of India, and other dignitaries will be in attendance. During the event, the Prime Minister will unveil commemorative stamps and coins. The valedictory address on November 5 will be delivered by President Droupadi Murmu.

During his opening statement, Patel announced the participation of more than 1,000 buyers and 950 exhibitors from 81 countries in the three-day event. The Netherlands will take on the role of the ‘Partner Country’ for this edition of World Food India, while Japan and Vietnam will be designated as the ‘Focus Countries.’ Furthermore, WFI 2023 has garnered support from 23 state governments, 18 central ministries, and related departments. He also highlighted how the visionary efforts of Prime Minister Modi resulted in the declaration of 2023 as the International Year of the Millets, underscoring the significant role of millets as a primary focus for WFI 2023 on a global scale.

During a comprehensive presentation, Minhaj Alam provided a concise overview of the ongoing preparations for the event. He also outlined the key highlights of World Food India 2023, including the Inaugural, Plenary, and Valedictory sessions of the conference, an expansive exhibition spanning 50,000 sq m and featuring a wide range of international and domestic companies, a dedicated Reverse Buyer Seller Meet (RBSM), focused B2B, B2G, and G2G meetings, the participation of over 20 foreign business delegations, four high-level CEO roundtables, more than 200 speakers involved in 50 conference sessions, and the presence of themed pavilions.
