Zomato aims to boost food orders; allows users to order food from multiple restaurants at same time

Published:

In an effort to streamline the food ordering process and capture a larger market share, Zomato, the popular food app, has unveiled a new feature that allows users to place orders from multiple restaurants simultaneously.

This strategic move comes at a time when the food delivery industry is experiencing a slowdown, prompting Zomato to explore innovative solutions to attract and retain customers. Drawing inspiration from Pincode, an app owned by PhonePe, Zomato aims to leverage the success of a similar feature to enhance user convenience and increase sales.

With the latest update to the Zomato app, users now can create up to four separate carts, each containing items from different restaurants. This feature enables users to curate their orders from various eateries of their choice, ensuring a diverse and customized culinary experience. Once an order is placed from one cart, users can seamlessly return to the remaining carts and continue adding items, mimicking the functionality offered by Pincode in the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).

During the launch of Pincode, PhonePe CEO Sameer Nigam emphasized the significance of the multi-cart feature, noting its ability to elevate the shopping experience and drive increased sales.

Zomato, taking note of the success of this feature, aims to leverage it to not only simplify the ordering process but also to empower users to make more informed purchase decisions. By offering greater flexibility and convenience, Zomato envisions attracting a larger customer base and gaining a competitive edge in the market.

A spokesperson from Zomato highlighted the company’s commitment to innovation and improving the overall customer experience. “At Zomato, we strive to constantly innovate and evolve to provide a superior customer experience. With this new feature, customers can effortlessly create multiple carts without the need to navigate back and forth across different menus,” the spokesperson informed Moneycontrol.

As Zomato continues to explore avenues for growth and customer satisfaction, the introduction of the multi-cart feature demonstrates the company’s proactive approach to meeting the evolving needs and preferences of its users. By embracing technology-driven solutions, Zomato aims to solidify its position as a leading player in the food delivery industry, offering seamless and personalized experiences that enhance the joy of ordering food from the comfort of one’s home.
